Richard J. Stillwell, Sr., 69 years old, of Elyria, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at Lake Point Health Center, Lorain, following a short illness. Richard was born October 18, 1942 in Elyria, and lived here most his life. He was employed at First Merit Bank as an appraiser for many years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elyria, and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from 1960 to 1964. He was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, with the class of 1960, and attended Lorain County Community College. A member of Elyria East Kiwanis Club of Elyria, he enjoyed photography, stamp collecting, and coin collecting. He is survived by one son, Richard J. (Tonya) Stillwell, Jr. of North Ridgeville; and two grandchildren, Trent and Kyra Stillwell. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Margaret (nee Huge) Stillwell of Elyria; one sister, Mary Haupt of Owego, New York; three brothers; David of Elyria, Robert of Oberlin, and Fred of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy J. (nee Molnar) Stillwell in 2008; and his father, Frederick Stillwell in 1984. Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria, on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10:30 A.M., followed by a Mass at 11 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria, with the Reverend Father Charles Diedrick, Pastor, officiating.
