Ruth M. Connors (nee Mucha), 79, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 12, 2012 at EMH Healthcare. She was born March 15, 1933 in Cleveland, and was a Lincoln High School graduate. Ruth moved to Elyria from Cleveland in 1961.

She was employed by The Standard Oil Co. of Ohio as a secretary to the Chief Chemist for four years, and had organized the St. Mary School Library and served as the Librarian for 28 years.

Ruth was a member of St. Mary Church, and served as Treasurer of St. Mary Church Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 12, lifetime member of AMVETS Auxiliary 32, honorary member of The Elyria United Polish Club, Women of the Moose 907, past officer of The Catholic Daughters of America, Past President of The Elyria Catholic Mother’s Guild, and a former member of The Elyria Woman’s Club, and Elyria Junior Woman’s Club where she was voted “Bell of The Christmas Ball”.

Ruth enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, William L. “Bill”, whom she married September 4, 1954; a daughter, Kathleen Jackson of Elyria; a son, William L. “Bill” Connors III (Vicki Fritz) of Elyria; additional survivors include three grandsons, Edward Jackson (Jacki) of Grafton, Michael Jackson (Melissa Patton) of Wooster, Christopher Jackson of Elyria; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jacob Jackson; and a brother, Kenneth Mucha of Broadview Heights, and St. Petersburg, Florida.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Loretta (nee Brzozowski) Mucha.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, 440-322-4626, where St. Mary Church Altar & Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3:45 P.M., Wednesday, with closing prayers at 9:30 A.M. Thursday, August 16, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 A.M., Thursday, August 16, 2012 at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria, where Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park.
