Robert served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and was then employed for 44 years at U.S. Steel Company in Lorain, retiring as a general foreman in 1980. He was a former member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and King Solomon Lodge No. 56, F.&A.M. Robert is survived by sons, James L. (Judy) of Westlake, Edward A. (Trish) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Donald R. (Chris) of Geneva, Illinois, Charles A. (Julie) of Brunswick; daughter, Nancy M. (Richard) Reed of North Olmsted, with whom he made his home; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wives, Ruth A., to whom he was married 34 years in 1974, and Evelyn M. in 2002; sons, William and Kenneth Buttle; brother, Thomas Buttle; and parents, Thomas and Mildred Buttle. Friends will be received Saturday, August 4, 2012 from Noon until the time of 1:30 P.M. service at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. Rev. Brian K. Wilbert, Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Oberlin, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
